Facilitation
I design, host and facilitate group events and experiences that are embodied, human and transformative. With a deep understanding of group dynamics and grounded and clear communication I offer an inclusive space for people to come together across difference.
Much of my facilitation work has been in the social and systems change space working with citizens, charities, businesses, activists and communities engaged in some of our biggest collective challenges from climate and nature breakdown to mental health and social isolation. Change and humans are messy and complex. I like to work in the spaces where inner and outer change meet, believing it’s in the forgotten or difficult inbetween places where transformation is possible.
In social change work, we often become what we are trying to fight against. Burning out while the world burns up or fighting power while in a disempowering work place. Understanding and acting in alignment with our own embodied processes as well as interpersonal, cultural and group dynamics (such as power) are a key part of embodying and modelling the change we want to see in the world.
My approach to facilitation draws on this view as well as over a decade of experiencing working at the coalface of social change. I’ve seen the power of bringing people together across difference and finding common ground. Facilitation can support us to come togetether as we lean into our most difficult collective challenges. If you would like to work with me or connect please get in touch.
Current Work
- I am part of the facilitation team for Healthy Human Culture – an embodied approach developed by Sophy Banks that utilises maps of trauma, culture and systems to support the movement back to health and a more alive world.
- I facilitate and support deliberative processes such as citizen assemblies and dialogues (including for Ipsos Mori, the RSA & Sciencewise)
- I design and facilitate whole team away days and gatherings as part of my work for the Food, Farming and Countryside Commission
- I am part of the community psychology circle for Tiny House Community Bristol exploring how we design approaches that support healthy and resilient community, for people and planet
- And occasionally… I host handfastenings and other celebrations and rituals
